How can managers assist when parental leave doesn't go to plan?

Access resources to assist employees who experience pregnancy loss, perinatal anxiety and depression or stillbirth.

What if things don’t go to plan – sickness and loss

Sometimes pregnancy, IVF, adoption or surrogacy don't go to plan. Expectant mothers may be unwell, sometimes hospitalised. Sadly, some families will lose their child before they are able to bring them home. Any situation of sickness and loss will require support from you. All employees – mum, dad, relatives, close friends – can be affected when something doesn’t go to plan. It is important you are across the entitlements your employee has to sick leave and support them in the best way you can. If your employer has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) set up, you may find this useful to offer. Depending on the situation, an EAP can be useful for you as a manager too.
