How does a gradual return work?
Learn what a gradual return to work for parental leavers works
A gradual return to work allows your employee to slowly build up to more days/ hours over a period of weeks or months. This can be especially helpful if the employee is moving to a new working arrangement or role, so they can assess the best flexible work arrangement that will be needed to perform the role.
A staggered return to work also allows your employee to reorientate back into the workplace and team so they feel up to speed with current news and progress. It can also assist the team as the expectations of your employee will be limited to the days/ hours they attend, allowing for the inevitable challenges with child care and illness as the employee adjusts to being back at work.
